Rotary District 5770 recently applied for and received funding from the Rotary Foundation to award to Carlee Wright to further her studies in Italy this fall. The scholarship provided by the Rotary Foundation and Rotary District 5770 will go towards her tuition and living expenses for the next academic year.
Carlee is the first scholar District 5770 has sponsored in seven years. Phil Moss, District 5770 Rotary Foundation chair says, "We are proud to have such a qualified and caring person to represent Norman, Rotary District 5770, and our state.  Carlee's education and experience have clearly prepared her for success in pursuing these advanced studies emphasizing peace and conflict resolution.  We say that Rotary is "doing good in the world."  We are confident that the academic program that Carlee will begin this fall will prepare her in developing her own skills to do good in the world, wherever she is."
“I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to represent Rotary District 5770 while in Italy,” Carlee said. “I very much look forward to visiting the various Rotary clubs in Bologna to present and network on behalf of our district. Thanks to the generosity of the Rotarians in this district and worldwide, I will not have to worry about affording tuition, housing, and food while pursuing my master’s degree. Thank you all!”
Carlee is a former Rotary Youth Exchange student, a graduate of Norman North and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Oklahoma in International Studies and Italian maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. She plans to enter Johns Hopkins University in Bologna, Italy, to pursue her Master of Arts degree in International Affairs. Carlee also is a Fulbright scholar and taught English as a foreign language, public speaking, and current events courses to fifty-four North Korean refugees attending a co-ed alternative school in Seoul, South Korea.
