District 5770 Welcomes You

District 5770 is comprised of thirty-one Rotary clubs located in south and southwest Oklahoma. We represent over 1200 members. The District also sponsors four Rotaract clubs in universities across our area and supports Interact clubs in area high schools. Click here to request information.

From it’s beginnings in 1915 as District 11, encompassing Kansas and Oklahoma, to its current moniker designated in 1990, Rotarians of the district have made it known our hearts are in service to our local communities, with support to the global efforts of Rotary International. District 5770 has produced two Rotary International Presidents: Everett W Hill, of the Shawnee, Oklahoma, Rotary club in 1924-1925, and Ron Burton, of the Norman, Oklahoma, Rotary club in 2013-2014. Herbert J. Taylor, author of the Four-Way Test, served as the third president of the Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Rotary Club.  He later moved to Chicago and served as President of Rotary International from 1954-1955.

We welcome you to inquire about our District and our Rotary Clubs. Please contact us. We’d love to get to know you!

2020 Zone Summit Proceeds Benefit Food and Shelter
Community Norman Rotary Service Zone

Service above Self is alive and well in spite of our current Covid situation. Rotary Zones 30/31 Summit, originally planned to be held in Norman, OK, and hosted by the four Norman Rotary clubs, went virtual this year. 1200 Rotarians from thirteen states attended the event.

Monetary donations made during the Summit were collected for the benefit of local Norman area non-profits.

Recently, District 5770 Governor Tim Eaton and Past District 5770 Governor Glenda Thomas presented a check for $10,000 to April Heiple, Executive Director of Food and Shelter, one of the recipients of the generous Summit attendees.

Sooner Rotary's District Grant Story
Sooner Rotary applied for a district grant to help Norman-based Food and Shelter update its two showers and laundry room. Included in the grant were new tile work and paint in the showers and two new washers and dryers and paint in the laundry room. The work completed mid-October.

Food and Shelter supports the homeless and low income community in the Norman area. They have a village of tiny homes for families, couples and singles to reside while they get back on their feet. They provide food and meals to anyone in need and the shower facilities and laundry room help with those who need to clean up.

Please share your story of how your District Grant helped your community. Email us at rotary5770@gmail.com to be featured.

Supporting the Environment Seventh Area of Focus
Area of Focus Environment People of Action Rotary

The Rotary Foundation Trustees and Rotary International Board of Directors have both unanimously approved adding a new area of focus: supporting the environment.

More than $18 million in Foundation global grant funding has been allocated to environment-related projects over the past five years. Creating a distinct area of focus to support the environment will give Rotary members even more ways to bring about positive change in the world and increase our impact.

Supporting the environment becomes Rotary's seventh area of focus, which are categories of service activities supported by global grants. It joins peacebuilding and conflict prevention; disease prevention and treatment; water, sanitation, and hygiene; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; and community economic development.

Grant applications for projects will be accepted beginning on 1 July 2021. Gifts and commitments from Rotarians and others will be sought to provide global grant support for the new area of focus.
